NONPROFIT DONOR POLICY
Effective Date: August 23, 2026
1. PURPOSE
Beacon For Veterans nonprofit donor policy reflects our commitment to responsible, ethical, and transparent stewardship of charitable contributions
This Donor Policy explains our general practices regarding the acceptance, use, acknowledgment, and protection of donations made to Beacon For Veterans.
Donations are used to advance the charitable mission, programs, services, and operations of Beacon For Veterans in accordance with applicable law and organizational policies.
2. ACCEPTANCE OF DONATIONS
Beacon For Veterans may accept charitable contributions including monetary gifts, in-kind donations, goods, services, securities, property, and other forms of support that further the organization’s charitable mission.
Beacon For Veterans reserves the right to decline, return, or place reasonable conditions on any donation that is inconsistent with our mission, creates excessive restrictions or obligations, may expose the organization to legal or financial liability, or is otherwise determined not to be in the best interests of Beacon For Veterans.
3. USE OF DONATIONS
Unless a donor places an accepted restriction on a contribution, donations to Beacon For Veterans may be used where they are most needed to advance the organization’s charitable mission, programs, services, and operations.
When Beacon For Veterans accepts a donor-restricted contribution, we will make reasonable efforts to use the donation in accordance with the accepted restriction and applicable law.
If circumstances make an accepted restriction impractical, impossible, unlawful, or inconsistent with the organization’s charitable purposes, Beacon For Veterans will address the matter in accordance with applicable law and, when appropriate, communicate with the donor.
4. DONOR PRIVACY
Beacon For Veterans respects the privacy of its donors and is committed to protecting donor information. We do not sell, rent, or trade donor names, addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, or other personal information for marketing purposes.
Donor information may be used as reasonably necessary to process contributions, provide acknowledgments and receipts, maintain organizational and financial records, communicate with donors, comply with legal and regulatory requirements, and administer our charitable activities.
Beacon For Veterans may use trusted service providers, such as payment processors and professional advisors, when reasonably necessary to perform these functions. Such providers receive information only as necessary to provide their services.
5. DONATION ACKNOWLEDGMENTS AND RECEIPTS
Beacon For Veterans will provide appropriate acknowledgments or receipts for donations in accordance with applicable federal and state requirements and organizational procedures.
Donation acknowledgments will identify Beacon For Veterans and, when appropriate, state the amount of a monetary contribution or provide a description of donated property. Beacon For Veterans will not assign a monetary value to donated property on behalf of a donor.
Donors are responsible for maintaining appropriate documentation and determining the tax treatment of their contributions. Beacon For Veterans does not provide individualized tax, legal, or financial advice.
6. REFUNDS AND RETURNED DONATIONS
Charitable donations are generally considered final once accepted by Beacon For Veterans. However, Beacon For Veterans may consider a request to refund or return a donation when circumstances reasonably warrant doing so.
Any decision to refund or return a contribution will be made in accordance with applicable law, payment-processing requirements, donor restrictions, and the best interests of Beacon For Veterans.
Beacon For Veterans reserves the right to return a donation if accepting or retaining it could create legal, financial, ethical, reputational, or administrative concerns for the organization.
7. RECURRING DONATIONS
Before a donor enrolls in a recurring gift, Beacon For Veterans will clearly and conspicuously disclose the donation amount, frequency, recurring nature of the charge, method for cancellation or modification, and the effective timing of changes.
Donors must affirmatively authorize recurring charges. A method to cancel or modify a recurring donation will be reasonably easy to find and use and at least as accessible as the method used to enroll, subject to reasonable identity-verification and payment-processing requirements.
Cancellation requests will be processed promptly and will apply to future charges in accordance with the disclosed timing and applicable payment-processor requirements.
8. THIRD_PARTY PAYMENT PROCESSORS
Beacon For Veterans may use third-party payment processors to securely process online donations and recurring gifts. These processors operate under their own terms, privacy policies, and security practices.
Beacon For Veterans does not directly store complete credit card or bank account information submitted through these payment services.
Donors should review the applicable payment processor’s terms and privacy practices when completing an online transaction.
9. TAX INFORMATION
Beacon For Veterans is recognized as a tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Beacon For Veterans does not provide individualized tax, legal, or financial advice. Donors should consult their own qualified tax advisor or other professional regarding the deductibility and tax consequences of any contribution.
10. DONOR RECOGNITION AND ANONYMITY
Beacon For Veterans may recognize donors publicly when appropriate and when permitted by the donor.
Donors may request that their contributions remain anonymous or that their names not be included in public donor-recognition materials. Beacon For Veterans will make reasonable efforts to honor such requests, subject to applicable legal, accounting, audit, and recordkeeping requirements.
Donors may also contact Beacon For Veterans to update their communication or recognition preferences.
